Understanding the Risks of Phishing Scams
These messages often use scare tactics to claim your site is at risk, urging you to click a link or take immediate action by paying another "Wix partner" to fix these mistakes. They even impersonate Wix support agents and claim that you need to pay for their services to fix these "issues."
wix.com about these scams.
Official notifications from Wix are generally sent from an email address that ends in `@wix.com]` (i.e. `<[wix-team@registrar.wix.com>` or `<wix-team@notifications.wix.com>`). Any message from Wix Customer Care will come from an address ending in `@wixanswers.com]` ("Answers" is our support ticketing system). We will also never contact you directly through your forms/Chat/Wix Inbox and never from a Gmail account. This is an attempt to impersonate Wix for the purpose of gathering information and/or money. Despite the claims made in the phishing message, please rest assured that there are no security or compliance issues—nor any issues at all—involving your site.
The Security of the Wix Platform
The Wix platform itself is extremely secure. Wix provides fully-managed, enterprise-grade security for tens of millions of websites. There are no additional premium services that need to be purchased to ensure your site and account are secure. Security is built into our processes and platform, complemented by 24/7/365 monitoring to detect vulnerabilities related to our systems. Check out the Wix Security Measures Overview.
Please don’t engage with them!!
What to Do Instead
✅ Do not click on any links.
✅ Do not provide any personal, login, or financial information.
✅ Do block the sender and report as phishing in your email app.
✅ Do switch any old Wix forms to the new version; it has stronger spam protections built in.
✅ Do monitor new members that join your website for anyone with "Wix" in the title of their name.
Even if the message looks like it’s from Wix, it’s not. There are little telltale signs, especially if they are being pushy and asking you to pay.
